Who can get a card
Residents of the Village of Eau Claire, Pipestone Township and Berrien Township are eligible for a library card.  In addition, students attending Eau Claire Public Schools, teachers in the Eau Claire Public School system and owners of local businesses are also eligible for a library card.  We also accept MI Library Card.  Residents of St. Joseph, who have a library card at the Maud Preston Palenske Memorial Library are eligible to check out materials.  The Library also participates in MEL Visiting Patron and VersaCard with neighboring libraries who use the Apollo circulation system.

How to Get Your Card
Visit the library and fill out an application form.  Eau Claire patrons who wish to obtain a MI Library Card will need to present your Michigan driver's license.

Borrowing Limits
We do not officially have limits for our printed items, but ask that you not check out everything we have on a given subject.  For DVDs we do limit to 5 per family.  All items are borrowed for two weeks, with a grace period of 7 days following the date stamped on the item.

Placing Holds
If you wish to place a hold on an item that is currently in circulation, please ask a staff member at the circulation desk to put a hold on the item for you.  Or you can access your account by clicking on the link "Search for books and other Library Material", logging in using your 14 digit library card number  and reserve the item yourself.  We will call, email or text you when the item is ready for you to check out.

Renewing Your Borrowed Items
You may call 461-6241 to renew the items that you have checked out.  They will be renewed for two weeks.  If an item that you wish to renew is on hold for someone, we do ask that you return it as soon as possible. If you wish to renew the item yourself, you may log into your account by clicking on the link "Search for books and other Library Material", logging in using your 14 digit library card number  and renew the item yourself.

Library Fines
We charge 5¢ per day for overdue items.  We do not charge for any day that the Library is not open, such as Sunday, holidays or snow days.
